Are you going to be a new student at BRMS this fall? Still feeling a little nervous about finding your way around school? Please feel free to come in a visit our school on Tuesday August 19th at 11:00 a.m. or Wednesday August 20th at 2:00 p.m. These are two opportunities for you to get a sneak peek at your new school and to learn where all your classes are located in the building. There are no tours, just an opportunity to walk around the building with your parents and friends. Principal Kevin Hamilton and Assistant Principal Elaine Archambault will be available to answer any questions that you may have about the coming school year!
Berta Frank is a native of New York City and a professional flutist. She attended Performing Arts High School and Juilliard Pre-College, continued on to Sarah Lawrence College for her BA and Columbia University Teachers College for her MA in Music Education. Before she was 21 she was a soloist in NYC at Alice Tully and Carnegie Recital Halls. She plays principal flute with the Burlington Chamber Orchestra, the Opera Company of Middlebury and is a member of The Heliand Consort and Vermont Contemporary Music Ensemble. She has participated in music festivals throughout the world and worked as a staff member with the Vermont Youth Orchestra Association for over 20 years while maintaining an active flute studio.
Berta moved to Jericho, VT in 1993 where she currently lives with her husband Jeff York, their two children Zev & Ayla, plus their 2 dogs. Both of her children attended BRMS and are now continuing their academic education at MMU where Zev will be a senior. She is an enthusiastic gardener who also enjoys vegetarian cooking, hand crafts, travel and sailing with her husband. She is grateful and excited to join the BRMS staff this fall!
My name is Ainee Commichau and I am excited to be working alongside Tina Gallagher
as a school nurse for Browns River Middle School.
I attended Loyola Marymount University (Los Angeles, CA) and received a Bachelor
of Arts in Psychology. Shortly after that, I earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing
at Hawaii Pacific University (Kaneohe, HI). I have been working in the acute care
setting since 1997, specifically in the Intensive Care Unit. I have worked in the
Surgical ICU at Fletcher Allen Health Care since my husband and I moved here
from NYC in 2004. I’ve been working as an ICU nurse for the last fifteen years but
focused on my family the last eight years. I was lucky enough to substitute as a
school nurse last year and could not pass the opportunity to join the BRMS team.
I live in Jericho with my husband, two beautiful kids (both attend JES), three dogs, a
fish and a panther gecko. Although I was born and raised in Hawaii (Island of Oahu),
I love living here in VT. My family and I make the most of ALL the seasons; from
biking and hiking in the summer & fall to downhill skiing and snowshoeing in the
winter & early spring. I look forward to new experiences and meeting more members
of this wonderful community.
I am very excited to be joining the BRMS team as a 5/6 Special Educator. I truly enjoy working with middle school students, and finding creative ways to make learning fun and meaningful.
I attended the University of Illinois at Chicago, where I received an undergraduate degree in Psychology and a Masters of Special Education. After training in the Chicago city schools, I worked as a Special Educator for five years, in both Virginia and Vermont, teaching 5th and 6th grades. I have also worked as an Educational Diagnostician, and served as a School Director on my local school board. Most recently, I have enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom to my three children. I am thrilled to be re-entering the teaching profession, and excited to be doing so at BRMS!
I live in Essex with my husband, three children, two dogs, and cat. We enjoy spending time together as a family, and enjoy all the activities that Vermont has to offer. My favorite way to relax, is sitting on my front porch with a good book!
